I am a believer in Christ, husband, father, pastor, and professor.

My wife Tammie and I have 5 boys and one little girl.  This is our first ministry.  I keep a blog. The Children’s Hour  grew out of sharing about books we have read together at home.

I teach at Union University, my alma mater and where I met my wife.  We are delighted for the opportunity to be a part of this community which has meant so much to us.  I teach classes in New Testament, Greek, and pastoral ministry. I also direct the R. C. Ryan Center for Biblical Studies.

I serve as one of the pastors at Cornerstone Community Church, a church in Jackson, TN, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.  It is a great joy to live in community with and to share in shepherding these dear people.  The Oversight of Souls blog grew out of my pastoral ministry class and pastoral labors at Cornerstone.
